Read full description of the books:
With both passion and humor, Rick Cormier pokes the eye of convention and makes the case for freestyle drum circles. He advocates building a safe container where creativity, human connection and spirituality may thrive. He argues for the benefits of "shared leadership" and the relinquishing of control. Here is the first book dedicated to the least written about, least understood and yet, the most prevalent type of drum circle in the U.S.: the freestyle community drum circle. Rick's drum circle stories (often hilarious... sometimes moving) effectively capture the joy and connectivity experienced in drum circle communities and will likely engage all readers to seek out a local drum circle to attend. Rick's years of experience and success provide sound advice to help present and future freestyle drum circle hosts to create and maintain successful drum circles.

Read information about the authorDuring his years as a licensed psychotherapist, Rick Cormier conducted thousands of interviews. The first person he ever interviewed was India's Prime Minister Morarji Desai at the United Nations Plaza as research for a two-year undergraduate project on Mahatma Gandhi.
When Rick was asked what prompted him to write "American Baapu", he said, "Whenever I tell people that we just returned from India where we stayed in five cities with five Indian families, people are fascinated to know how that came about. The story was getting too long to tell verbally.
When he was 22, if you asked Rick what he wanted to be when he grew up, he would have answered, "a psychotherapist/cook/photographer/musician who writes books". Rick has managed to fit all of those activities into his life. Now that he has retired his license, he
spends his time doing "Whatever is fun". That includes photography, writing books,
drumming for several bands, teaching hand drumming in a public school, running
community drum circles, and cooking for his wife.
After visiting the southwestern US in 2009 for their 25th wedding anniversary, Rick and Judy left their native New England in 2013 and moved to the suburbs of Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. At 7000 feet altitude, snuggled within several mountain ranges, Rick, his wife, and his camera have never been happier.
Previous books were, "MiXED NUTS or What I've Learned Practicing Psychotherapy", "My Life Cracks Me Up", "Freestyle Community Drum Circles" and "God Should Have Worked on Sunday".
